Lupus information

Arthritis Victoria statement

Arthritis Victoria provides information, self management training, access to support and self help groups and exercise programmes to Victorians with arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, lupus and other musculoskeletal conditions.

Natalie Savin, Arthritis Victoria CEO, says Arthritis Victoria is honoured to be serving another group of Victorians; people with lupus.

"We are really pleased to welcome these new members to the Arthritis Victoria family, and look forward to working with Victorians with lupus on how we can best support them.

"The interests of people with lupus will assume a high priority in our organisation.

"We are also encouraging our existing members and supporters to spread the word about our involvement in lupus so we reach as many people affected as possible."

Arthritis Victoria is currently recruiting a health professional to coordinate Arthritis Victoria's work in the area of lupus and the services the organisation offers to people with this condition.

Dissolution of LAF

LAF began exploring involvement with Arthritis Victoria in early 2007 when it started looking at ways to best serve its members. In June members of LAF voted to wind up LAF and pass the organisation's assets to Arthritis Victoria. In early November the 2007 the assets of LAF were passed over to Arthritis Victoria. They will be used for services for people with lupus.

Membership of Arthritis Victoria

All members of LAF were formally admitted as members of Arthritis Victoria at the September 2007 meeting of the Board of Arthritis Victoria. This membership will be valid until 30 September 2008 with no fees required. Those wishing to renew their membership from October 2008 will do so in line with Arthritis Victoria's usual membership renewal procedures including the appropriate membership fee.
